Historically over this time of year burglaries do rise in lieu of Christmas. Cheshire Police have worked very hard during December to remind the public to step up on security measures by keeping doors and windows secure ( even if there is someone in the house. ), by using alarms, using timer switches and leaving lights on when the house is empty. It is also important to lock doors even if you are staying in !!
A large proportion of the burglaries reported throughout the Borough in December 09 have occurred because people have helped the opportunistic burglar by leaving doors and windows insecure.
Tightening up on your home security will play a large part in the fight against burglary.
Wilmslow burglary figures were very low for this time of the year which is good news.
Vehicle crime in Wilmslow is also down Although this is encouraging, the figures could have been lower if people had locked their vehicles on driveways and removing personal items from view when leaving it
unattended.
