Police appeal for witnesses after suspicious fire at an Alderley Edge bar and restaurant

Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a suspicious fire at a premises in Alderley Edge.   At 10.30pm on Tuesday 12 March 2013 emergency services attended a fire in London Road, Alderley Edge.  The building which was engulfed by the fire is a bar and restaurant but was closed when the fire broke out. No one was evacuated and no one was injured.

One member of the public recently reported a virus which attacked their computer by blocking all access once they turned it on. A page was displayed appearing to be from Cheshire Police because it showed the police authority logo and the address for police headquarters in Winsford.  They were then asked to pay an upfront payment of £100 to remove the block by either going to a shop and buying a Ukash voucher from which the code could be entered online or paying via money transfer through Western Union. Be seen and be safe, police warn cyclists

Cheshire Police are advising cyclists to be seen and be safe as the dark nights draw in. Statistics have shown that nearly one third of cyclist fatalities occur during the hours of darkness between 6pm and midnight.

Wilmslow police renew their appeal to public to help trace violent burglars 24/7/12

Police are re-appealing for witnesses who may have seen a car involved in a violent aggravated burglary in Wilmslow. Some time between 10pm and 11pm on Sunday 22 April 2012, four to five masked offenders

Cheshire Police issue mini-moto warning

Cheshire Police will be cracking down on anti-social behaviour involving youths on mini-motos this summer. Officers will be increasing patrols in problematic areas and advising the public about the law surrounding the use of these bikes.

Cheshire Police have notified that there has been an increase in cycle theft in
the Cheshire area over the past few weeks.

Cheshire Constabulary Alert re Incident in Styal Woods

Police are urging the public to be vigilant following a suspicious
incident in Styal woods in Wilmslow on Thursday 29th December 2011
some time between 2pm and 2.30pm.

A woman was out walking her dog in the woods when she became aware of
a man walking behind her. She stopped to let him past and the man made
a comment to her. As he drew level with her he made a further comment
insinuating that he could harm her.

The woods were busy at the time so the woman felt safe, but the nature
of his comments concerned her enough to phone police later that
evening.

101 Non-Emergency Police Number

101 the new police non-emergency number launches in Cheshire.

Cheshire Police, together with Merseyside Police and Greater Manchester Police, switches over to using the new national non-emergency telephone number − 101.   The introduction of 101 is part of a national programme to make it easier for members of the public to contact police in a non-emergency, where an immediate police response is not required. From 23.11.2011, 101 will replace the force’s current non-emergency number 0845 458 0000.
