Travellers on Carnival Field

We have approached CEC to ask as to the current position relating to the Traveller's occupation of the Carnival Field.  We are advised that the arrival of the Travellers just before the weekend has slowed matters down as CEC need a court order and this cannot be obtained over the weekend.

CEC will be going to court on Monday to register the case followed by a court hearing on Wednesday to obtain a repossession order.  They then expect the Travellers to leave by the end of the week.

Homewatch Alert

During the afternoon of 27.2.2013 a white male, approximately 5ft 7 ins, slim build with dark hair wearing a uniform similar to a PCSO uniform was sighted trying the conservatory door in the Clifton area of Alderley Edge. When disturbed the male made off.

All residents are asked , if they are unsure of who a person is, to ask for identification or contact 101

The incident took place a few hours after a burglary was reported on the same road and it is believed the male was bogus.

Homewatch Alert

I have received the following from a Homewatch member who wished me to circulate this warning :

A neighbour has reported to me that when she carried some shopping from her car into her house someone stole carrier bags with goods purchased from M & S and made off with them. Her car was parked on her driveway, but she had left the boot lid open (which I’m sure a good number of people do – including myself.) You may think it worthwhile mentioning this to other Homewatch Schemes as a warning

The vehicle was parked in the Grangeway area of Handforth. Please be warned !!

Cheshire Police Guide to Staying Safe Online

Cheshire Police Guide to Staying Safe Online

There have been a number of internet scams reported to Cheshire Police which involve viruses or spyware. One member of the public recently reported a virus which attacked their computer by blocking all access once they turned it on. A page was displayed appearing to be from Cheshire Police because it showed the police authority logo and the address for police headquarters in Winsford.

They were then asked to pay an upfront payment of £100 to remove the block by either going to a shop and buying a Ukash voucher from which the code could be entered online or paying via money transfer through Western Union. The fraudster claims they will unblock the computer screen after being paid.

Realising that this was a hoax, the
